The Alcubierre Warp Drive is a hypothetical form of propulsion conceived from a solution of Einstein’s field equations in his general theory of relativity, and put forth by theoretical physicist Miguel Alcubierre. It is suggested that a spacecraft could achieve super-luminal velocities if a configurable field with an energy-density lower than that of vacuum (i.e. negative mass) could be created. Currently, scientists are unable to determine how to produce negative mass. A number of theories support the possibility of such exotic materials.
